Bikinis for babies & toddlers? Are you nuts?!?

Toddler Bikini-Sz. 12 monthsMy husband told me that he saw an article about bikinis for babies and toddlers today. At first, I thought it was April Fool’s Day. I believe the words: “You are joking, right?”, came out of my mouth. He wasn’t joking.

A famous “3 letter” clothing company has a string bikini for 12 month olds now. Correct me if I am wrong. Aren’t bikinis supposed to conjure up ideas of a slim, womanly figure? Weren’t bikinis created to show off feminine curves and to drive men crazy? WHAT ARE BIKINIS DOING ON BABIES?!!! What has this world come to? We are talking CHILDREN here! Hello!!!! Is our family the only ones that think this is wrong?

No wonder our children are wanting to smoke, drink and have sex before they are adults. Look what we are dressing them in. Look at toys like Bratz dolls (i.e. tight clothing, tons of make-up, etc.) Aren’t we cheating our children out of childhood? Why are we in such a hurry to get our children “grown up”? Skanks

I find it VERY SAD that we are putting children that can’t even walk yet into string bikinis. Some may say that I am overreacting. That may be so. What a sad world we live in when we turn babies into sex symbols. I thought seeing little girls wearing high heels and lipstick at the mall was bad.

For the parents that dress their children like “little adults”, you should be ashamed. Let your child be a “kid” as long as they can. They will be dating, paying bills, changing diapers, and looking at retirement soon enough. Let them enjoy getting dirty, playing ball, catching fireflies, and looking at cloud shapes as long as they can. Bring back the Garanimals and Tough Skins!
